Following the arrival of the loading arms from the Netherlands, the Puerto Rosales Terminal Expansion Project reached another major milestone with the successful installation of the equipment that will form part of the new pier’s third operational berth: two loading arms.
In the days leading up to the operation, the Projects team, together with the DTC-AESA Joint Venture, continuously monitored weather and operational conditions to identify the optimal work window. Factors such as tides, wind speed, daylight availability, and the absence of maritime traffic in the area were critical to ensuring a safe and controlled operation.

A meticulously planned operation
The installation of the first loading arm took place on September 17 during a carefully selected operational window.
The operation required the coordinated participation of two high-capacity cranes, three barges and their respective tugboats, as well as the joint efforts of specialists from different disciplines involved in the project.
Throughout the operation, the AESA team monitored critical variables in real time, including wind speed, barge draft, positioning distances, equipment height above sea level, and crane working angles, ensuring that every movement was carried out within established parameters.
The result was an operation executed exactly as planned, without incidents and with a constant focus on people’s safety and asset protection.
Second installation successfully completed
The installation of the second loading arm was carried out on Saturday morning, replicating the same high standards of planning and control applied during the first operation.
A technical representative from KANON, the equipment manufacturer, was present during both operations, supporting the process and verifying that the installations were performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s technical specifications and recommendations.

Another step forward for Rosa Negra
With the installation of both loading arms now complete, the Rosa Negra Project continues to progress as planned, marking another important step in the development of the infrastructure that will expand Puerto Rosales’ operational capabilities.
This achievement is the result of the coordinated efforts of the Projects, Operations and HSSE teams, contractors, and technical specialists, who made this complex operation possible while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
